About Dysarthria

What is Dysarthria?

Dysarthria is a condition in which the muscles you use for speech (he muscles in your lips, tongue, vocal cords, and diaphragm) became weak.

The individual with dysarthria can’t control his or her tongue, larynx, vocal cords, and surrounding

muscles, which makes it difficult for the person to form and pronounce words.

It is a neurological disorder which causes partial or complete facial paralysis leading to weak muscular movements in the throat or poor movement of the tongue. The extent of dysarthria depends on which muscles are affected due to neurological disorders.
